Nifty 50 and Sensex closed the week flat, but almost 40 smallcap stocks saw increases of between 10 and 40 percent, marking the fourth straight week of advances. This occurred following the 30-share BSE Sensex’s historic high of 75,124 last week, which was ultimately pulled down to 74,244 by feeble global cues. Aster DM Healthcare, Ramco Systems, Kolte Patil Developers, and Hindustan Copper were some of the leading smallcap gainers.

Among other smallcap firms, Abans Holdings, Transformers & Rectifiers, Waree Renewable Tech, IIFL Finance, KEI Industries, Anand Rathi Wealth, Lloyds Metals, Force Motors, Suryoday Small Finance Bank, and Motilal Oswal Financial Services saw double-digit increases in share prices last week.

Markets this week

Following three weeks of fluctuating trading, the domestic equities indices finally settled flat.

Similar trends were seen in the larger indices as well, with smallcap rising by about 1% and midcap closing flat. As gold reached an all-time high of 73,958 and gained 1.71 percent, crude saw a decline of 1.33 percent and close below the 7,200 mark. The top Nifty gainers for the week were Equihler Motors, Hindalco, and Tata Consumers; the top losers were Sun Pharma, Titan, and Cipla.

In the Indian markets, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers because last week’s outflows exceeded net investments. The outflows by international investors were counterbalanced by the ongoing inflows led by domestic institutional investors (DIIs).

According to stock exchange data, FIIs were sellers in four of the five sessions last week, with a net outflow of ₹6,526.71 crore, while DIIs were purchasers in all of the sessions, with a total investment of ₹12,232.61 crore.
