IConsumers have become self-aware with time and try to seek for products which are cruelty-free and isn’t hazardous to the environment. But in an age of clever marketing strategies from some of the biggest brands, there are more options, especially for skin care products.
The ideal way to solve this problem is to incorporate natural Ayurvedic skin care methods into your daily routine. Here’s a list of expert-approved DIY hacks to make your own Ayurvedic face wash, facial moisturizer, and body wash in the comfort of your own home.
Face Wash

Face wash helps to remove all the dirt, oil and impurities from the pores of the face. An effective way to do this is to create a face wash that suits your skin type. Rajni Ohri, founder at Ohria Ayurveda recommended the following recipes-
1. Oily Skin: Mix multani mitti, mulethi (licorice) powder and aloe vera gel to deep cleanse and leave your skin with an oil-balancing effect. “This blend helps control excess oil, removes dirt, maintains pH balance, and improves skin texture,” added Ohri.
2. Combination Skin: Mix chickpea flour and butter to cleanse and balance the oily and dry areas of your skin. This blend cleanses, tones and hydrates the skin to balance different areas of the skin.
3. Dry Skin: Mix banana puree with honey to hydrate and nourish. This provides deep hydration, nourishment and softness to the skin.
Face moisturiser

Post deep cleansing the skin, the next step is to moisturize the skin to keep it healthy and hydrated. To achieve this, use a balanced formula suitable for all skin types, says Dr. R. Govindarajan, CEO of RandD at Kapiva.
Procedure: Combine the aloe vera gel, coconut oil and turmeric powder in a bowl and mix well. Apply the mixture to the face and neck and gently massage the skin. Leave it on your face for a few minutes to fully hydrate and rejuvenate your skin.
Body wash

Dr Hansaji Yogendra, director at Yoga Institute, mentioned the following recipe:
Blend well 2 tbsp of gram flour (besan) and 2 tbsp of yogurt. Hereafter add 3-4 drops of lemon juice to form the right consistency.
Merits: Gram flour gently cleanses the skin, removing dirt and impurities without stripping the skin of its natural oils. The yogurt hydrates and softens the skin, while the lemon juice exfoliates and revitalizes the skin, leaving it fresh and healthy.
