Just like the song in which Hema Malina was seen dancing in the most charismatic manner, the film with the same name – ‘Dream Girl’ won’t disappoint you in any manner.

Taking the leap of faith on the age-old Bollywood tradition of dressing our heroes in drapes, Raaj Shaandilya has done quite an interesting work here.

Dream Girl is the story of Karam, who is very fine when it comes to imitating women’s voices. Starting with proxy phone calls to teachers as his friend’s mom, to playing Sita and Radha in the local plays. And is often appreciated by the people in the small town of Gokul for his roles and mostly for the voice he is able to modulate. But his dad – Jagjit Singh (Annu Kapoor) wants him to find a regular job, where he doesn’t have to don the woman act and Karam ((Ayushmann Khurrana) is also very clear that he will play these roles only until he finds a regular job.

And the irony comes to life when he does find a job, but as ‘Pooja’ at a call center for sex chats. Soon enough, ‘Pooja’ has an assortment of men and a woman besotted by her. And each of them wants to either meet or marry her.

While all this is happening on the frontal of the story, his girlfriend Mahi (Nushrat Bharucha) is not even aware of what he is up to.

The film, which is basically a situational comedy in and out comedy, with its great punchlines, screenplay and story manages to make you laugh every now and then. Also, it is Ayushmann Khurrana’s choice of films, which engages you as an audience to discover what is next.

However, there is more than just laughter, sometimes the film also falls in the pit of offensive language and bizarre jokes.

Though we say more the merrier, in the case of having a big cast and so many characters, the screenplay of the film also gets disturbed. It becomes messier and scattered. Speaking of the songs, they do add some glamour and spark to the storyline.

Despite all the flaws, the film is worth a watch for its comedy and the efforts actors have put in.
