Aiyaary: Strong sense of characters with a bit adrifted storyline; Ceases to hold the audience though
Starring: Sidharth Malhotra, Manoj Bajpayee, Rakul Preet Singh, Pooja Chopra, Adil Hussain, Kumud Mishra, Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher
Aiyyaari, directed by Neeraj pandey is one another thriller from his side. The movie is based on an army officer who on a mission goes rogue. Colonel Abhay Singh (Manoj Bajpayee) who is leading the mission gets a shock when his brightest officer Jai Bakshi (Siddharth Malhotra) went on to be on the darker side. Abhay Singh has to track his most talented man while defending everything he believes in.
The director is known for the strong characters that he puts in his movie. This one was no different. The promising actor Manoj Bajpayee has played the role of a steadfast officer bound by duty. He can rightly be called the backbone of the movie.
On the other hand, Siddharth Malhotra, the officer who gets disillusioned by the system brings a methodical, calm and collected demeanor to Jai Bakshi. The script showed the actor one step ahead of his superiors.
Rakul Preet Singh is the leading actress in the movie. She ends up being jai’s love interest. Pooja chopra’s character Maya started off with a hint of potential but it ends up being a loyalist to Jai bakshi.
Anupam Kher in the movie hasn’t played a crucial role and he is seen underutilized. Naseeruddin shah playing the character of Baburao on the other hand becomes relevant at many points of the movie. But unfortunately, his character appears a little late in the movie.
There are a number of scenes in the movie which can turn the theatre atmosphere dull as these scenes do not add to the storyline. Moreover, the screenplay many a times goes overboard and often loses pace. The entries and exits of the character could be improved but overall the movie Ayyari has a quality performance and interesting storyline that makes it worth watching.
