Fan’s anticipation for Alia Bhatt’s solo release in 2024 was high, but the movie appears to have fallen short of expectations. After a dull weekend, Jigra’s earnings continued to decline and it did not demonstrate any growth during the week. The movie made less than ₹2 crore on Wednesday, according to Sacnilk.com.
According to the most recent information, Jigra made its lowest-ever ₹1.25 crore on its sixth day of availability. With ₹4.55 crore, the movie had the lowest opening for an Alia Bhatt picture in ten years. On its second day, the movie made ₹6.55 crore, but on its third day, its earnings dropped to ₹5.5 crore. With revenues of ₹1.65 crore on day five, the total amount collected to date is ₹21.10 crore.
Controversies looped in
Among the many issues the movie has encountered is the criticism directed at Alia’s role. According to Divya Khossla Kumar, the jailbreak drama’s plot line was similar to that of her previous movie, Savi. She also charged Alia with falsifying Jigra’s box office results. According to Divya, Alia bought tickets for her own film and staged a “fake collection” in order to mislead the public.
The main character of Jigra is a loyal sister named Satya Anand (Alia), who sets out on a perilous quest to save her brother Ankur Anand (Vedang Raina). The film is presented by Viacom18 Studios and Eternal Sunshine Productions and produced under the Dharma Productions umbrella, it was co-written by Vasan and Debashish Irengbam.
