Kalki 2898 AD: Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan starrer fetches ₹774 crore globally
The movie, which debuted on June 27 to positive reviews, starred Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan in the lead roles.

In its first week of release, Nag Ashwin’s dystopian film Kalki 2898 AD brought in ₹774 crore worldwide.
Box office figures
Although Vyjayanthi Movies, the film’s producers, have not yet released an official number, trade analyst Ramesh Bala revealed on X (previously Twitter) that Kalki 2898 AD took in ₹774 crore worldwide during its first week of distribution.
He wrote, “#Kalki2898AD 8 Days WW gross – ₹ 774+ Crs..8th day WW gross – ₹ 49 Cr.”
Nag Ashwin’s favourite shot
In conversation with India Today, Nag disclosed that his favorite scene from the movie is the intermission sequence in which Deepika’s SU-M80 is shown walking through a fiery tunnel. He stated, “We were shooting three setups that day and Deepika had to leave by a certain flight. It usually happens that some of the most important or magical things in the film happen by chance or in a hurry.”
He added, “And this is what that was. And, but just watching it in that hurry, in that rush and everything, when you just reach the monitor and you see Deepika walking through that particular tunnel in that fire, I just knew this was going to be special.”

Kalki 2898 AD was released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi in 2D and 3D versions. In the movie, Amitabh plays Ashwatthama, Kamal plays Supreme Yaskin, the Complex’s leader, Prabhas plays bounty hunter Bhairava from Kashi, Deepika plays pregnant test subject SU-M80, aka Sumathi.
