Will Kristen Stewart ever star in a Marvel film? Here’s what the actress said
With her role in the Twilight movie series, Kristen Stewart gained popularity and went on to become one of the most famous people of her era. The star of Underwater is a big fan of filmmaker Greta Gerwig and acknowledges that she loves her Barbie film “super-duper.” The actress has stated that she will not be the lead in a Marvel movie, even with the success. During her appearance on the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast, Stewart expressed that the thought of making a superhero movie gave her nightmares, even if the host thought she would look excellent as Mary Jane in a Spider-Man movie. The actress has stated that she would only take a role in a superhero film if offered by Gerwig.
Kristen said, “I like big movies because I like people to watch them. When I’m in them. Like you’d have to put so much money and so much trust into one person and I think Dakota mentioned that this as well. It doesn’t happen. So therefore what ends up happening is this weird algorithmic experience where you can’t feel personal at all about it.”
She added, “If Greta Gerwig asked me to do a Marvel movie, then I would do it. She’s my favorite. I’m obsessed with her. I’m a super, super duper fan of Barbie.”
Although Greta Gerwig hasn’t yet tried a superhero movie, the director stated in a 2023 Rolling Stone interview that she would like to helm an action or superhero movie after the success of the Margot Robbie-starring movie Barbie. Gerwig went on to say that she enjoys watching excellent action movies and compares them to dance. The director found it intriguing and exciting to work with the stunt coordinator on the movie based on the iconic doll, despite the fact that she had no prior expertise in this genre.
