Cheerful Phirr Bhag Jayegi Story: Horticulture teacher Happy (Sonakshi Sinha) touches base in Shanghai and the other Happy (Diana Penty) alongside spouse Guddu (Ali Fazal) additionally arrives up in the Chinese city in the meantime. Criminals who’ve come to kidnap Happy and her husband, get the wrong Happy, while Guddu and his better half Happy are escorted to a college to give a lecture – A clueless confusion that takes the audience for a comedy ride.

Cheerful Phirr Bhag Jayegi Review: Comedy of blunders is one of the most oldest tricks in the filmmaking business. And this is why Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi (HPBJ) is such a fun film. It takes a shot at similar subjects and thoughts that made its forerunner, Happy Bhag Jayegi (HBJ) such a laugh riot. The script and direction by Mudassar Aziz are first rate. HPBJ has magnificently great comic punches and timings, the kind that you can watch again and again.

The film squanders no time in building up the base – The two Happys get interchanged when the film starts. Sonakshi Sinha’s Happy is abducted by a cluster of goons who have amusing names like Makaju and Diana Penty’s Happy and her husband Guddu are escorted to a college, where a random Chinese man going about as their translater uses such virtuous Hindi that it hoodwinks the Punjabi couple.

The confusion takes it course with comedy and set the humor tone of the film. Once the characters of Bagga (Jimmy Sheirgill), Usmaan Bhai (Piyush Mishra) and Khushi (Jassie Gill) come on-scree, the film’s pace and funniness shoots onto the next level. Oh and don’t miss the comical satire by the chinese criminals in the movie – Just another thing that makes the movie funnier.

HPBJ is just as good as HBJ and the actors add up to make it worth the watch. Mudassar Aziz’s ability to set the punjabi tone in the chinese setting makes the movie downright hilarious. Not just this, but the one performer who emerges with his comedic timing is Jimmy Sheirgill. His character has numerous eccentricities and the on-screen character delivers every single dialogue with disarming charm. Sonakshi Sinha as the feisty and energetic Happy, is great as well. Aparshakti Khurrana, in a brief however astounding part, makes a decent effect as well.

Indeed it’s worth the time and money 🙂
