Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan has secured the top spot for the fastest double century in One Day International (ODI) cricket, achieving the milestone in just 126 balls during a match against Bangladesh in 2022.
Kishan’s exceptional innings saw him amass 210 runs off 131 balls, including 24 fours and 10 sixes, at a remarkable strike rate of 160.31. This performance not only earned him the title of the youngest cricketer to score an ODI double century but also marked the first instance of converting a maiden century into a double ton in the format.
Following closely behind Kishan is Glenn Maxwell, who, despite battling an injury, played a sensational knock to score an unbeaten 201 off 128 balls against Bangladesh in 2023. Maxwell’s remarkable display of resilience and skill led Australia to a miraculous victory in the World Cup 2023.
Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka secured the third position on the list with his blistering double century against Afghanistan in 2024. Nissanka’s remarkable innings of 200 off just 136 balls not only made him the first Sri Lankan cricketer to achieve this feat but also set a new record for the highest individual score by a Sri Lankan in ODI history.
Other notable entries on the list include Chris Gayle, Virender Sehwag, Shubman Gill, Sachin Tendulkar, and Fakhar Zaman, each of whom showcased extraordinary batting prowess to secure their places among the fastest double centurions in ODIs.
These exceptional performances not only highlight the talent and skill of these cricketers but also underscore the thrilling nature of ODI cricket, where records continue to be broken and new milestones are set with each passing match.
