FA Cup: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp slams reporter for ‘stupid question’ after loss to Manchester United

After his team’s FA Cup quarterfinal loss to Manchester United on Sunday, March 17, Jurgen Klopp yelled back at a reporter. The video has now gone viral. On a thrilling night in Manchester, United defeated Klopp’s team 4-3 due to an extra-time goal from Amad Diallo, ending Liverpool’s hopes of winning a quadruple.

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, kept his calm when speaking with most of the media following his team’s loss, but he got upset with a reporter from a Scandinavian TV network who asked why Liverpool appeared to lose focus in extra time.

Klopp replied, “It’s a bit of a stupid question, If you see us often, you can ask us the other times why we have so much energy. I don’t know how many games we’ve had recently and how many Manchester United have had. This is sport. I am very disappointed by that question, but you thought it was wise.” He added, “Come on! You are obviously not in a great shape. I don’t have the nerve for this.”

The manager then strolled out of the post-match interview, leaving the reporter confused.

Returning to on-field action, Liverpool put up a strong performance, scoring two goals late in the first half through Alexis MacAllister and Mohamed Salah, after Scott McTominay put the hosts ahead. In the second half, Manchester United had many opportunities to end the tie, but they were unable to find the back of the net. That cost them dearly as they were out of favor. Brazilian winger Antony, who came on as a substitute, scored.

After having several chances to score the winning goal, the two English giants went into extra time for 30 minutes. Harvey Elliott then scored in the 105th minute. The Reds were only a few minutes away from sending Manchester United out of the FA Cup, but in the last moments of the match, goals from Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo put Liverpool out of competition.
