Manchester United are expected to have a somewhat busy summer transfer window, their first under new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s administration.
Man United are anticipated to undergo a significant renovation ahead of the 2024-25 season, as they are at serious risk of losing out on a top-four finish in the Premier League and hence a spot in the Champions League next season. As per the Mirror, United is interested in signing Benfica’s teenage star Joao Neves.
The English club is expected to make a bid for at least two defenders and maybe a few attackers since they need reinforcements in a couple of areas.
19-year-old Joao Neves is regarded as one of the best young players in European football and Manchester United has been strongly linked to him for a summer transfer ahead of the upcoming season. The defensive midfield player is believed to share similarities with the well-known Italian midfielder Marco Verratti.
The Benfica player Joao Neves’ contract expires on June 30, 2028. The Portuguese team wants Manchester United to pay the full £102 million (€120 million) release clause if the club show real interest in the player this summer. It would go on to become the all-time record signing for Manchester United. The 19-year-old recently refused to confirm that his future beyond the current season is with The Eagles, adding fuel to the flames.
