In a revelation that has intrigued Bollywood music lovers, legendary playback singer Sonu Nigam was not initially the frontrunner to voice the classical-styled track ‘Mere Dholna 3.0′ for the hit film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Composer Amaal Mallik has now shared candid details of the discussions behind the song’s casting, revealing that the actor’s team and other insiders were leaning towards Arijit Singh or Vishal Mishra before Nigam ultimately recorded the track.

How the debate over the singer choice unfolded

In an interview, Mallik explained that while many in the music team admired Sonu Nigam’s unparalleled vocal prowess, there was reluctance among some stakeholders — including members of the actor’s team, marketing division and label representatives — to bring him on board initially. Names like Arijit Singh and Vishal Mishra were floated as potential voices for the song, partly because Singh had sung earlier versions and was considered a familiar choice.

However, Mallik was adamant that Nigam’s classical sensibilities and depth suited the complex emotive thread of ‘Mere Dholna 3.0′. “There’s only one person who is the epitome of classical music in this country — that’s Sonu sir — and I knew he could pull it off,” the composer said, adding that his conviction stemmed from a desire for a “bolder voice” that did justice to the film’s musical vision.

Despite initial hesitation from some quarters, Nigam eventually recorded “Mere Dholna 3.0” in just 45 minutes, impressing everyone with his mastery and discipline. Fans are brimming with excitement for Anurag Basu’s sequel to the celebrated film Life…in a Metro. The teaser of Metro…In Dino featured an array of plots from the perspectives of different characters. Now, Pritam, the celebrated music composer has unveiled a new song that creates a binding force for all the characters in the film.

On Wednesday, a soulful track titled Zamaana Lage, crooned by Arijit Singh and Shashwat Singh, was released and welcomed wit utmost love and acceptance from the netizens.

About Zamaana Lage

The music video gives a beautiful glance into the lives featured in the anthology film, amidst the local settings of Mumbai. Sara Ali Khan and Aditya Roy Kapur’s characters form a bond at the metro station while on a different arc, the characters of Konkona Sen Sharma and Pankaj Tripathi forms alignment.

On the same pedestal, Saswata Chatterjee gets aligned with Neena Gupta and Anupam Kher in the busy streets of Kolkata. The conclusion arc is completed with Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh’s characters introduction.

The composition is penned by Qaisar Ul Jafri (backed with additional lyrics written by Sandeep Shrivastava). It showcases that giving a second chance to the abstract form of love, during the course of life even though it delivers the pain at the end.

American comedian-actor Kevin Hart’s show in Delhi set for April 30 was delayed post the unfortunate terror attack in Pahalgam. Amidst the incumbent military tensions between India and Pakistan, Indian artists have cancelled their scheduled shows.

Shreya Ghoshal, on the wake of the Indo-Pak tensions, posted on Instagram, “My dearest fans, With a heavy heart, I want to share that my homecoming concert in Mumbai, part of the All Hearts Tour and scheduled for 10th May 2025 at Jio World Garden, BKC, will be postponed due to the current events unfolding in our beloved country. This concert means the world to me, and I was looking forward to sharing a powerful evening with all of you. But as an artist and a citizen, I feel a deep responsibility to stand in solidarity with the nation during this time.”

She added, “I promise that this is not a cancellation, just a postponement. We will reunite soon, stronger and more united than ever. A new date will be announced very soon, and all tickets purchased will remain valid for the rescheduled concert. Singer Arijit Singh gave intimation about his concern in May 9 in Abu Dhabi. He penned, “Due to recent events, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Arijit Singh live concert in Abu Dhabi, originally scheduled for 9 May 2025, at Etihad Arena, Yas Island. We deeply appreciate your patience, support and understanding during this time. We are working closely with the venue and the new date will be announced soon.”

The Usha Uthup Live, which was set for tonight (May 10) in Mumbai, “had to be postponed”. “We appreciate your understanding and support during these unforeseen and challenging circumstances. Our team remains committed to bringing you more events shortly, under safer and more favourable conditions,” the organisers mentioned.

Shankar Mahadevan’s concert in Delhi was postponed with a note: “Due to the situation prevailing in the country, we have decided to postpone our Delhi concert, Geet Govind, which was scheduled for May 17. We will announce the new date soon. We pray to Lord Krishna for your well-being and stand firmly in solidarity with our beloved nation.”

Singer Kailash Kher was set to perform live at Bengaluru tonight, however, Randhir Roy of Panache Media, said, “We are going ahead with Kailash ji’s show in Bengaluru. However, Papon’s concert of Sunday (May 11) in Kanpur has been postponed.”

Singer Lakhwinder Wadali’s Jashn-e-Sufi, in Mumbai was scheduled for May 9 yet postponed for similar reasons, “We were preparing for the show for months, but since 17 people, including the artistes and crew, were supposed to travel from Amritsar, we decided to call it off,” stated Vishaka Agarwal Kothari of Vivikta Entertainers Pvt Ltd., the organisers of the show. Sitarist Rishab Rikhiram Sharma and singer Jigardan Gadhavi, also shared their concert postponement notes on social media. Rishab has a show in Indore yesterday (May 9), while Jigardan had one scheduled in Mumbai on May 10.

The Padma Awards 2025 is the most coveted awards celebrating the best in cinema and Indian music. The ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on April 28, amidst the benign presence of President Droupadi Murmu. She conferred the honor to ace filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, singer Arijit Singh, the late ghazal master Pankaj Udhas, singer Jaspinder Narula and actor Ashok Saraf for their exceptional work in Indian cinema and music.

Padma Awardees 2025

Shekhar Kapur, best known for Mr. India, Elizabeth and Bandit Queen, was awarded the Padma Bhushan. He equally gained prominence at the global platform through his range of scintillating films and storytelling.

Arijit Singh, one of the best musician of this generation is an indisputable winner of Padma Shri. He is known for many hits including Tum Hi Ho, Raabta, and Kesariya, among others. His voice has touched hearts across the world, making him the greatest of all time.

The late Pankaj Udhas, the legend of ghazals and Bollywood songs, was posthumously conferred the Padma Bhushan. The award was received by wife, Farida Pankaj Udhas, from the president. His excellent work in Indian music continue to strive as a legacy for future music composers and artists.

Singer Jaspinder Narula, was the 90s queen who won people with her power-packed voice. She has been conferred with Padma Shri known for Pyar To Hona Hi Tha and her range of devotional, folk, and pop hits.

Veteran actor Ashok Saraf, embraced for his comic timing and screen presence has worked in Hindi and Marathi cinema. He has been conferred with the Padma Shri. He gained stardom for his work in Singham and Karan Arjun
