Aditi Rao Hydari, Avinash Tiwary looped in for a romantic drama by Imtiaz Ali

Imtiaz Ali recently revealed his upcoming project after Amar Singh Chamkila. The writer-director is collaborating with Netflix once more, this time for a romantic drama series starring Aditi Rao Hydari and Avinash Tiwary. Fans are thrilled as Netflix published a video showing the group getting together for a table read.

In the video, Imtiaz and Aditi can be seen sitting along with the rest of the writing team and crew members for a table read. Avinash also arrives for the table read. Arjun Rampal, also part of the cast, greets the rest of the crew and they together go ahead with the reading.

The caption stated, “Imtiaz Ali’s ‘O Saathi Re’…an ode to the vintage feeling of love in contemporary times 💌. Starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Avinash Tiwary & Arjun Rampal. Directed by @arifali1541, O Saathi Re – coming soon, only on Netflix.”

This marks the second project between Avinash and Imtiaz, after Laila Majnu and its recent rerelease success.

Avinash last appeared in Boman Irani’s film The Mehta Boys. Aditi received praised for her role in Heeramandi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The show is already working on a second season.

On November 29, 2024, the thriller Sikandar ka Muqaddar was aired on Netflix starring the lead cast Avinash Tiwary, Jimmy Shergill, and Tamannaah Bhatia. Laila Majnu re-release collects impressive earnings on day 4; expects to mint 6 crore by weekend

When Laila Majnu debuted in theaters back in 2018, it was not well received. It was presented by Imtiaz Ali, directed by Sajid Ali, and starred Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary. The film was deemed a theatrical disaster after only making about Rs 2.20 crore nett during its initial run. Because there weren’t many new releases six years after Laila Majnu’s original release, it was re-released in theaters, and the results were shocking—in a good way.

Laila Majnu starts afresh

On Cinema Lovers Day, the film brought in a cool Rs 30 lakh during its re-release. The total for the weekend was Rs 2.05 crore after it increased by 150% on Saturday to add Rs 75 lakh and then received Rs 1 crore on Sunday. The biggest surprise came on Monday when the Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary movie made twice as much as it did on its first day, Rs 60 lakh. The contribution from PVRInox is Rs 2.40 crore (gross). With this, Laila Majnu’s four-day total since its re-release is now Rs 2.65 crore. Laila Majnu’s re-release has already surpassed the amount of money it brought in during its first run in just four days.
