Recently, (G)I-DLE‘s Soyeon had come forward to speak on the restraints put forth by the Korean Entertainment industry on the idols. In an appearance on variety show with SE SO NEON‘s Soyoon, the duo discussed how things have gone beyond normalcy for the celebrities.

The (G)I-DLE leader stated in clear resonance that there is lingering dissatisfaction among the adult K-celebrities who faces hate for their smoking, drinking or dating choices. She stated, “One of the things people think is bad but isn’t is like smoking. Smoking isn’t illegal. Adults can smoke, adults can drink.” She extended her support for all the artists and actors who witnessed tremendous disgust for doing something much acceptable in the society.

She added, “In idol culture, there are things you’re just not supposed to do, like dating”. To which, Soyoon said, “(Hate comments for) dating is honestly the weirdest one to me.” Soyeon nodded and mentioned, “But I think it’s fine. If someone wants to date, they should.” Adding, “When you think about it on a broader level, loving someone is part of why we’re born. Loving is as natural as eating or breathing. But idols still can’t openly do it.”

“Honestly, they don’t have to hide it. However, if they don’t hide it, they need to be prepared for the consequences,” Soyeon claimed. She also clarified the reality of the dating scenario, which was that they had to decide whether to keep their relationship a secret or risk upsetting a segment of followers. The (G)I-DLE member mentioned, “Someone wants to keep their fans’ hearts while also dating. I don’t think that’s possible. Both the host and Soyeon considered that “selfish.”

Fans are brimming with anticipation as (G)I-DLE’s Minnie takes center stage as a solo artist. On December 3, the gifted Thai singer-songwriter would release her eagerly awaited debut solo album in January 2025. Minnie, who has been captivating audiences with her distinct voice and talent since making her debut with (G)I-DLE in 2018, has reached a significant milestone with this.

News1, a K-media outlet, broke the story first, and CUBE Entertainment quickly verified it. A representative stated, “Minnie is currently working hard on her first solo album, with the aim of releasing it in mid-January next year.”

Minnie’s solo debut follows (G)I-DLE’s recent announcement of a contract extension with CUBE Entertainment, which the quintet made at the 2024 Melon Music Awards. This declaration solidified the group’s close relationship and hinted at more interesting ventures in the works.

Minnie is well-known for her bilingual abilities, artistic contributions, and swoon-worthy voice.  With her production and songwriting credits on songs like Moon, I’m the Trend, and Blow Your Mind, she has demonstrated her creative ability and raised the bar for her next solo project.

Minnie, the well-known Thai singer, had a captivating Thai-inspired entrance for Latata, the Japanese debut album, on QUEENDOM, which continues to resonate with fans, demonstrating her significant contributions to the group’s success. Minnie’s flexibility was further demonstrated in 2020 when she made her acting debut alongside Park Se Wan in the Netflix sitcom So Not Worth It.

As January draws near, music lovers, Neverland, and the adored (G)I-DLE fanbase are all eagerly awaiting the release of Minnie’s debut album.

There was a stir among fans when it was announced that (G)IDLE’s Soyeon’s contract with CUBE Entertainment would officially end. Fans have speculated that this is because the K-pop idol is reportedly considering her options and may end her contract with the company she is currently managed by.

(G)I-DLE will operate as a four-person group in the interim. Soyeon is reportedly considering a number of businesses, including Big Planet Made Entertainment and Zico-led KOZ Entertainment.

The K-pop star’s contract expiration was made public during a recent (G)I-DLE performance, when she made references to it in the lyrics. When Soyeon performed her solo song, “Contract ends in November,” during the (G)I-DLE WORLD TOUR [iDOL] IN SEOUL, she attracted attention from the crowd because of its contentious lyrics. Despite some rumors circulating, the companies have not yet acknowledged having signed any agreements. Additionally, CUBE Entertainment declared that they are currently negotiating a contract extension.

Rapper and record producer Soyeon made her K-pop debut with (G)I-DLE, producing several of the group’s title tracks. She did, however, first become well-known for her roles in Produce 101 and Unpretty Rapstar. In 2021, she made her solo debut with the EP Windy, which featured the title track Beam Beam.

They have continuously pushed boundaries with their music and concepts since making their debut with LATATA. Songs like Oh My God, NXDE, and Tomboy demonstrate their versatility in handling a wide range of topics and genres. Additionally, they write music that addresses societal issues, particularly those pertaining to women.

3. aespa

Aespa’s futuristic concept and creative utilization of virtual avatars have taken the K-pop scene by storm. Differentiating themselves from other groups, their debut single, Black Mamba, provided audiences to a novel story featuring a virtual realm. The tale of the group has been further explored by their subsequent tracks, Savage and Next Level. The group has made a name for itself in K-pop with the release of their most recent full album, Armageddon. Supernova, the pre-release song, topped every major South Korean music chart.

4. IVE

One of the newest groups in the K-pop market, IVE, has gained popularity fast because to their memorable songs and eye-catching visuals. Their first single, “ELEVEN,” became an immediate hit. It was followed by the equally popular “LOVE DIVE” and “After LIKE.” The band gained a sizable fan base and multiple accolades immediately after their premiere.

5. LE SSERAFIM

LE SSERAFIM’s audacious ideas and courageous performances have drawn notice. Songs like “Fearless” to “Easy,” “ANTIFRAGILE,” “Smart,” and others have demonstrated their remarkable development throughout time. Furthermore, their outstanding performances never cease to wow audiences—not only in South Korea but also beyond.

In the June idol group brand reputation rankings, BTS secured the top spot this month. IVE finished third, while SEVENTEEN took second place.

The consumer involvement, media coverage, interaction, and community awareness indices of idol groups were analyzed to determine the rankings. This conclusion was made using big data that was gathered between May 13 and June 13.

With a remarkable 177.09 percent gain in their brand reputation index this month, BTS took the top spot, with their June total standing at 6,669,376.

This month, SEVENTEEN achieved the second position with a brand reputation index of 4,977,252.

June’s third-place finisher, IVE, had a brand reputation index of 4,251,825.

With a brand reputation index of 3,557,268 and a sharp rise in their score of 69.02 percent since May, aespa jumped to fourth position.

(G)I-DLE, with a brand reputation index of 2,825,732, completed the top five.
