A highly anticipated sequel is in the works for Kalki 2898 AD, which starred Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone and was a huge smash in 2024. Nag Ashwin, the film’s director, has now revealed details regarding the sequel and its main themes.

Speaking about Kalki 2898 AD Part 2, Nag Ashwin was asked about Prabhas’s sparse screen time in the original film and if that will continue in the follow-up, as per a report by Pinkvilla.

The filmmaker responded by explaining that Prabhas’ brief appearance in Part 1 served to introduce the Mahabharata’s main plot. They had to establish the Ashwatthama and Sumati characters in the plot.

Ashwin continued by confirming that the sequel would focus more on the Bhairava and Karna’s tale. He disclosed these updates at a press conference prior to Yevde Subramanyam’s re-release.

Prabhas played the lead in the sci-fi dystopian epic Kalki 2898 AD. Based on Hindu mythology, the movie shows Kalki, Lord Vishnu’s foretold tenth avatar.

The film told the story of Kalki’s birth and its complexities, with Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan serving as co-leads. It starred in prominent roles Disha Patani, Rajendra Prasad, Shobana, Pasupathy, Anna Ben, and Kamal Haasan as the antagonist.

Prabhas will next be seen in Maruthi’s film The Raja Saab featuring Nidhhi Agerwal and Malavika Mohanan. He will be also seen in Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and Hanu Raghavapudi’s Fauji.

Yevade Subramanyam, starring Nani and Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Nag Ashwin, will shortly be re-released in theaters. The highly anticipated movie will be released on theaters on March 21, 2025, according to the makers’ official announcement.

The re-release of the Telugu-language drama film coincides with its tenth anniversary, having been first released on March 21, 2015. The tweet read: “A Decade Later… Dudh Kasi calls us again. Relive the magic of #YevadeSubramanyam on the big screen. Re-releasing on March 21st!”

The film that chronicles the journey of Subramanyam, a materialistic and ambitious man who is driven to succeed in life by moving up the corporate ladder.

He intends to marry his boss’s daughter and buy a business for him as part of his ambition for success. But when he is faced with a decision and the prospect of losing his acquisition, things take a different turn. Simultaneously, Rishi, a friend from his youth, reappears in his life; he is a whole opposite of Subramanyam.

The remainder of the film documents Subramanyam’s transformative path of self-discovery, which ultimately results in a positive shift in his perspective. Malvika Nair, Ritu Varma, Nassar, Krishnam Raju, and many others play important roles in the movie, which also stars Nani and Vijay Deverakonda as Subramanyam and Rishi, respectively.

Regarding her career, Nani will play the lead in HIT: The Third Case. Nani himself co-produces the film, which is directed by Sailesh Kolanu and portrays him as a tough cop.

Srinidhi Shetty plays the film’s female lead, while Surya Srinivas, Adil Pala, and other actors play important supporting parts.

In the meantime, Jersey star Gowtam Tinnanuri is directing Kingdom, which will star Vijay Deverakonda. The teaser for the action-thriller, which is scheduled for release on May 30, 2025, was just released.

Alia Bhatt is now filming Love & War, which is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali starring Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor. The unconventional filmmaker, who plans to conclude the shoot by October 2025, was given more than 200 days by the actress. As per Pinkvilla, she is in negotiations for a feature film with National Award-Winning Director Nag Ashwin.

Sources close to the development claim that Nag Ashwin wants to helm a feature film starring Alia Bhatt before the next installment of Kalki 2898 AD. “The genre and other aspects are kept under wraps for now, but Nag Ashwin is in advanced talks to collaborate with Alia Bhatt on a subject that’s close to his heart. Alia too has loved the world that Nag is looking to create and the actress is excited to collaborate with the maverick filmmaker,” shared a source as reported by Pinkvilla.

Akshat Gupta shared that, “I want to be among those who claim they have met Lord Ashwatthama, but I haven’t had such an encounter. However, there is an interesting story about him.”

He further addressed the Pilot Baba’s story, “There was once a person named Pilot Baba by his disciples. He resided in the Himalayas and wrote a book titled Himalaya Keh Raha Hai. In that book, he mentioned meeting a community led by a man with an injured head from which pus flowed. The community members were happy under his supervision and worshipped Lord Shiva. When Pilot Baba asked them whether their leader was Ashwatthama, no one responded. They neither confirmed nor denied the fact.”

“Another story involves Prithviraj Chauhan. After losing a battle, he wandered in the forest. Prithviraj, being knowledgeable about medicines, encountered Ashwatthama. Prithviraj helped the man and provided him with some medicines. Interestingly, the other person had even greater knowledge of the medicinal properties of plants, yet he sought Prithviraj’s help in search of some relief,” he stated.
