Godrej Jersey Lactograph Reveals West India Leads Nation in Flavoured Milk Consumption at 81%

Godrej Jersey’s India Lactograph Findings FY25–26 reveals significant shifts in milk consumption across India, with West India emerging as the country’s flavoured milk capital. The study, conducted across eight cities, shows 81% of West Indian respondents consume flavoured milk regularly, far more than any other region.

Unlike the East, where flavoured milk is consumed on specific occasions, or the North and South, where seasonal and indulgent consumption dominate, the West integrates flavoured milk into daily routines—driven primarily by taste.

The region also leads the shift toward new-age energising dairy formats:

  • 62% consume protein shakes

  • 62% opt for smoothies
These trends align with 59% using milk as a meal substitute, suggesting strong alignment with fitness-led and time-efficient lifestyles.

Nationally, the study captures the anxieties of modern parenthood:

  • 54% of parents fear slower growth in their children.

  • 64% worry about weakened bone strength due to declining milk intake.

  • 62% of parents depend on milk for protein to support all-day energy.

The data reflects both legacy and evolution,” said Shantanu Raj, Marketing Head, Godrej Jersey. “67% of Indians still drink milk most often through tea, which shows its cultural grounding. But 44% now turn to protein shakes, showing the rise of fitness-driven habits. For us, this is both a responsibility and an opportunity to deliver taste, convenience and nutrition together.”

Beyond drinks, dairy continues to remain embedded in everyday cooking:
dahi (80%), paneer (76%), and butter (74%) are among the most used staples.

The Lactograph FY25–26 positions Godrej Jersey as a key player shaping the future of dairy consumption through innovation and nutrition-led solutions.
