The Union Environment Ministry has ruled out any environmental violations at Laxmi Organic’s chemical unit located at MIDC Lote Parshuram in Ratnagiri.
In a written statement tabled in the Rajya Sabha on February 5, Minister of State for Environment Kirti Vardhan Singh said the Maharashtra State Pollution Control Board has confirmed compliance with all prescribed environmental conditions.
The minister stated that the unit’s effluent treatment plants and air pollution control systems are fully operational, while hazardous waste is handled through scientifically approved storage and disposal processes. The most recent Joint Vigilance Sample results from November 4, 2025, were within approved limits.
The statement also detailed that the facility had obtained environmental clearance from the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, later transferred to Yellowstone Fine Chemicals Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Laxmi Organic Industries. The subsidiary received additional clearance for expansion in 2025.
The Centre further clarified that while there is no specific ban on PFAS manufacturing in India, several PFAS-related substances are regulated, with ongoing evaluation by expert committees.
