5 dangerous plants you should never keep inside your house

What factors do you consider while selecting plants for your house? Do you choose them for their appearance or their function? Do you choose your houseplants based on your mood or do you conduct some research first? Regardless of how you choose to select your plants, you need to be cautious around potentially dangerous ones as certain plants are not good to have in your house.

1. Lily Plant

Although lilies are a lovely plant to have as a houseplant, certain kinds can be quite dangerous. Certain types of lilies, including Calla, Easter, Rubrum, Tiger, Day, and Asian lilies may be harmful to cats. Lily plants may cause lethargy, vomiting, or lack of appetite when consumed.

2. English Ivy Plant

English ivy is an extremely common plant. It looks stunning when grown on a trellis and adds a lot of charm to your home. However, it is harmful to both humans and animals. Ivy causes skin irritation and, if eaten, can be quite toxic.

3. Amaranth Plant

Amaranth is an exceptionally attractive blooming plant, however it should not be kept inside. It is a fast-growing plant with a high pollen producer. If you have allergies, pollen might make you sick.

4. Aloe Vera Plant

Humans can benefit greatly from the aloe vera plant. It is widely recognized for its beneficial qualities; we apply the gel on our skin and may even consume the juice to aid with digestion. As beneficial as it is to humans, it is as harmful to pets. The latex (aloe fluid found under the plant’s skin) is hazardous. If your pet eats it, you’ll notice it causes abdominal upsets and cramping.

5. Oleander Plant

Oleander is a popular plant that grows in warm weather. It should not be kept inside since the leaves and flowers contain harmful cardiac glycosides that may cause stomach discomfort, vomiting and drooling.
