Five-Year Mpower Report Highlights Deepening Emotional Crisis Among Indian Men

A new five-year analysis by Mpower sheds light on the growing emotional strain faced by Indian men, especially students and working professionals. The organisation interacted with 2.83 lakh men across helplines, counselling services and outreach initiatives.

Young men aged 18–25 emerged as the most vulnerable group, with youth programmes covering 2,07,350 participants. Working-age men preferred anonymous support, evident from 75,702 male calls received on Mpower’s round-the-clock helpline between 2022 and 2025.

Stress, depression, relationship conflicts and burnout were the top concerns. Nearly half of all callers reported immediate relief after speaking to a counsellor, signalling the value of accessible emotional support.

Pune and Mumbai recorded the highest outreach numbers, while other key cities together accounted for 40,000+ engagements.

“Men continue to shoulder an enormous emotional burden, often silently. Our data shows that when men do reach out, the relief is immediate and meaningful… Support is available, confidential, and free of judgment.”
