For a Pune couple trying to conceive for four years, a breakthrough came only after a long-overlooked part of the fertility picture was examined: the husband’s reproductive health. Their experience at Indira IVF Pune has sparked broader discussion about the importance of male fertility testing in India.
Despite the wife completing all fertility evaluations, the husband had never undergone testing due to hesitation and societal stigma. Diagnostics at Indira IVF identified Klinefelter syndrome, hormonal issues and low testosterone—conditions that may remain hidden without targeted evaluation.
“Male fertility is often overshadowed by the assumption that women should undergo testing first,” said Dr Amol Subhash Lunkad. “This delays diagnosis and treatment.”
Doctors devised a personalised plan, including micro-TESE, ICSI-IVF, embryo genetic screening and frozen embryo transfer. The couple later delivered a healthy baby free of genetic abnormalities.
The case demonstrates how early male evaluation can shorten the treatment timeline and improve outcomes. Indira IVF continues to promote awareness and uses advanced reproductive technologies across its centres nationwide.
