Holi special party recipe: Refreshing and scrumptious Dahi Bhalla

Holi is coming up soon, and we are very excited about it. Every year, the nation celebrates Holi with great fanfare and extravagance. Holi commemorates the eternal love and marriage of Goddess Radha and Lord Krishna. It also restates the axiom that virtue always prevails over evil.

At home, unique Holi foods and beverages are also made to enjoy with loved ones. A customary Holi snack presented to guests is dahi bhalla. Here’s a really simple and enjoyable recipe for making Dahi Bhalla for your Holi celebration at home.

Ingredients used:

Vadas:

  • 1 cup urad dal, soaked overnight
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, grated
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil

Yogurt mix:

  • 2 cups thick yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)

Garnish:

  • Tamarind chutney
  • Mint-coriander chutney
  • Roasted cumin powder
  • Chaat masala
  • Chopped coriander leaves

Procedure:

  1. Strain out the soaked urad dal and use as little water as possible to crush it into a smooth paste.
  2. Add grated ginger, chopped green chilies, and salt to the batter.
  3. Using tiny amounts of batter, carefully drop them into the boiling oil.
  4. Drain excess oil onto paper towels after removing from the oil.
  5. After each vada is cooked, let it soak for ten to fifteen minutes in lukewarm water.
  6. After carefully pressing out any extra water, place them in a serving dish. Beat the yogurt until it’s smooth in a bowl.
  7. Add the red chili powder, sugar, salt, and toasted cumin powder. Stir thoroughly.
  8. Cover all of the soaking vadas with the yogurt mixture by pouring it over them.
  9. Add tamarind chutney, mint-coriander chutney, chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, and chopped coriander leaves as garnish.
