The route of an entrepreneur is not unlike from sailing through unknown waters but a journey of endless miles.
For women who are trying to master entrepreneurship and simultaneously having to handle parenthood, the route is twice as challenging. This is a bold step that requires juggling and prioritization for a lot of women.
In honor of Mother’s Day, presenting you seven modern mompreneurs who are masterfully creating an equilibrium between the demands of both entrepreneurship and modern parenthood.
Vineeta Singh
The CEO and co-founder of Sugar Cosmetics, a well-known Indian cosmetics brand that provides personal care products for ladies with a range of skin tones, is Vineeta Singh. Vineeta has established two additional prosperous firms, Quetzal and Fab-Bag, and is a trendsetter in the Indian cosmetics market.
L Catterton and Sugar Cosmetics, which serves women with a range of skin tones, struck a $50 million partnership. Film actor Ranveer Singh made an investment in 2022. Aiming to achieve INR 500 crores by 2023, Sugar Cosmetics has raised $87.5 million in six fundraising rounds as of September 2022, according to Forbes India. On the reality TV program Shark Tank, Vineeta also makes an appearance as a shark.
Ghazal Alagh
Indian entrepreneur and corporate trainer Ghazal Alagh is a co-founder of Mamaearth and TheDermaCo. She is married to Varun Alagh, a co-founder of Mamaearth, and has a bachelor’s degree in computer applications. The business was established in 2011 by the two, and Dietexpert.com in 2012. They established Honasa Consumer Pvt Ltd (Mamaearth) in 2015; it is currently a publicly traded company with a market capitalization of 138.78 billion. In the Indian business reality series Shark Tank India in 2021, Ghazal made an appearance as an expert Shark.
Suruchi Wagh
The CEO and creator of Jombay, an Indian leadership development organization, is Suruchi Wagh. To assist women managers and leaders in overcoming obstacles they have set for themselves and achieving success, Jombay has developed the “1000 Women Leaders Program.” In order to assist women thrive in their jobs, the program focuses on developing a “protagonist mindset” in addition to other mindsets including a Warrior, Maverick, Campaigner, and Enterprising mindset. With a degree in computer science, Suruchi focuses on talent evaluation and skill building with the goal of improving enterprise solution user experience.
Neeta Maxen
Neeta Maxen is a 15+ year MBA-marketing specialist with experience in enterprise sales, B2B and B2C divisions, and marketing management, sales, CRM, loyalty programs, and market research. As a corporate dropout mother, she founded two businesses: My Playdate Cafe, which she hopes to develop into a kids’ social media platform, and Kraftd-Memories, a boutique firm that specializes on personalized events and parties.
Since 2013, Neeta, a mompreneur, has skillfully juggled her obligations to her family with her entrepreneurial endeavors, exhibiting fortitude, inventiveness, and multitasking abilities.
Suchi Mukherjee
The CEO and founder of LimeRoad, a significant online marketplace for women’s fashion, is Suchi Mukherjee. She was born in Haryana, India, and attended St. Stephen’s College and the University of Cambridge, where she was named a Chadburn Scholar and a Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholar & Fellow. She has an MSc in Finance and Economics from The London School of Economics and Political Science, a degree in Development Economics, and membership in Newnham Associates.
In 2012, Suchi was a co-founder of LimeRoad, the first women’s social shopping website in India. The site has grown quickly; by 2017, traffic and income had increased by 150%.
Shilpi Sharma Bedi
In 2016, Shilpa Sharma Bedi and her best friend Satya Nagarajan founded Indie Project Store (IPS) since she was a mother with a mission to locate the greatest things for her child. The project includes community development, children’s apparel, and assistance for regional craftspeople. IPS works with regional brands and companies to provide modern designs made using traditional Indian textiles. It uses local craftsmen and non-governmental organizations to curate products in the areas of children’s apparel, bedding, education, health, and nutrition.
Manvi Pavitra
Dr. Mani Pavitra is an orthodontist who founded the mother-focused company PamperedMoms. She oversees several companies in the event, hotel, and healthcare sectors. In addition, she writes for her next book, “Move Mom Move,” and contributes to her YouTube channel, “Million Moms.” Her story is an inspiring example of tenacity, inventiveness, and entrepreneurship. As a medical professional and seasoned businesswoman, she collaborated with her spouse to spread financial literacy during the lockdown.
Dr. Mani is a successful businesswoman who manages her family’s schedule in addition to raising two children.
