Air India has temporarily stopped operating its flights to Tel Aviv due to the rising tensions in the Middle East, and airlines are now rerouting their flights to avoid Iranian airspace, according to PTI.

It is anticipated that carriers will have to pay more for operating costs as a result of this shift in flight patterns, which may result in increased ticket prices.

Amidst the current tensions between Israel and Iran, Air India and Vistara announced a day earlier that they would no longer be operating flights that would pass over Iranian airspace on their way to Europe and other Western destinations.

Tel Aviv and Delhi are connected by four weekly flights operated by Air India, the only Indian airline offering service to Israel.

Air India and Vistara have chosen to use different routes on some of their flights that originate in or are traveling to India.

Sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed that the airlines are avoiding Iranian airspace when traveling to Western destinations, despite the fact that details about the alternative flight paths were not made public.

The Middle East’s rising tensions between Iran and Israel have an effect not just on the area but also on international aviation traffic.
