The Delhi Chief Minister and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal, was sued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a Delhi court for allegedly ignoring five summonses related to the excise policy issue. The ED filed a charge against Arvind Kejriwal for failing to appear at the agency’s summons in the Delhi liquor policy money laundering case, according to ANI. The case was brought before Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court.

The report said that the subject was set for “remaining submissions and consideration” on February 7 after the court heard some submissions on Saturday

The most recent event occurred one day after Kejriwal disregarded the sixth ED summons that were sent to him in connection with a money laundering investigation involving an alleged liquor insurance scam.

“Delhi CM and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal will not appear before ED today as well. We will comply with the lawful summons. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aim is to arrest Arvind Kejriwal and topple the Delhi government. We will not allow this to happen,” the AAP stated as quoted by ANI.

“Kejriwal is not going to the ED for questioning because he knows that corruption has been done and is trying to evade answering to the probe agency,” said BJP leader Meenakashi Lekhi, according to PTI.

Manoj Tiwari, a BJP MP for North East Delhi, alleged that Kejriwal has ignored five ED summonses thus far and questioned “if he wants to give the message to children of Delhi to not follow the law. Was he elected for this?”
