Wall Street forthcoming week: Economic highlights, quarterly earnings, stocks performance

The US trade deficit and consumer credit reports, among other important economic events, will be the focus of Wall Street’s stock markets this coming week.

The following week will see the release of several significant earnings reports, including those from PepsiCo, McDonald’s, Alibaba, Caterpillar, and Philip Morris.

Economic highlights

A report on changes to the CPI seasonal factor will be made public on February 9.

The final ISM services report and S&P US services PMI for January will be made public on February 5. The US trade deficit figures for December and the January consumer credit report will be made available on February 7.

Quarterly Earnings

The businesses listed below are scheduled to release their quarterly profits next week: McDonald’s, Caterpillar, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Tyson Foods, NXP Semiconductors, Estee Lauder, Eli Lilly, Toyota Motor, Centene, Amgen, Ford Motor, BP, Alibaba, CVS Health, Fox Corporation, McKesson, Disney, Uber Technologies, PayPal, ConocoPhillips, Philip Morris, Duke Energy, Expedia, Take-Two Interactive, Pinterest, Kenvue, PepsiCo, Newell Brands, and AMC Networks.

US stocks saw a big increase in closing prices on Friday due to excellent earnings and positive January job data.

US stocks performance

The S&P 500 finished the session at 4,958.61 points, up 1.07 percent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 0.35 percent to 38,654.42 points, while the Nasdaq climbed 1.74 percent to 15,628.95 points.

Following the announcement of the jobs report, the yield on the 10-year Treasury bond spiked, rising from 3.88 percent on Thursday to 4.02 percent today. From 146.28 Japanese yen to 148.33 yen, the US dollar increased. The euro dropped from $1.0872 to $1.0792.

A barrel of Brent crude for April delivery dropped $1.37 to $77.33.

On Friday, the US benchmark for crude oil for March delivery dropped $1.54 to $72.28 per barrel. The price of an ounce of gold for delivery in April dropped to $2,053.70. At $22.80 an ounce, silver for March delivery dropped 44 cents.
