Tech giant X, previously known as Twitter, has introduced a significant update to its Ads Revenue program for creators, making it more accessible for a broader range of users. The company announced that it is reducing the minimum requirement for impressions to qualify for ad revenue sharing from 15 million to 5 million within the last three months. This change aims to encourage more users to engage in the program and benefit from ad revenue.

The official announcement was made through X’s Twitter handle, where they stated, “Now, even more people can get paid to post! We’ve lowered the eligibility threshold for ads revenue sharing from 15M to 5M impressions within the last 3 months. We’ve also lowered the minimum payout threshold from $50 to $10. Sign up for a Premium subscription to get access.” Additionally, X has lowered its minimum payout threshold from $50 to $10, making it easier for creators to receive their earnings.

Elon Musk, who is associated with X, further elaborated on the update through his own Twitter account. He explained that this adjustment effectively means that X Premium (formerly Twitter Blue) becomes free for accounts that generate over 5 million views. He also highlighted that only views from verified accounts will be counted toward the impression threshold to prevent misuse by scammers using automated bots to inflate views.

Prior to this update, X required users to accumulate a minimum of 15 million impressions within three months to be eligible for ad revenue sharing. According to reports from The Verge, Musk initially introduced the revenue-sharing plan in February. The company recently initiated the first round of payments for eligible accounts that met the criteria of having paid verification through X Premium or being verified organizations, along with achieving 15 million “organic” impressions within the last three months and maintaining at least 500 followers.

This change aligns with X’s efforts to enhance its platform’s appeal to content creators and provide them with more opportunities for monetization. By lowering the entry barriers for ad revenue sharing, X aims to attract a larger pool of creators who can benefit from their content while also contributing to the platform’s engagement and growth.
