Godrej Agrovet Limited (GAVL), one of India’s leading agri-food businesses, has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) to strengthen food processing and agricultural innovation. The agreement, signed at World Food India 2025, involves a proposed investment of ₹960 crore.

As part of the MoU, GAVL will establish manufacturing and processing facilities along with an upstream R&D centre. The investment will focus on the company’s Oil Palm and Pet Food businesses, spanning Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Tripura, Telangana, and Maharashtra. The projects are expected to be completed by FY2026-27 and will contribute to regional development, skill enhancement, and job creation.

Sunil Kataria, CEO & MD of Godrej Agrovet, said the initiative aligns with the company’s long-term strategy. “By investing in upstream infrastructure and R&D, our aim is to create sustainable value across the supply chain while contributing to the upliftment of the ecosystem. We are grateful for the support from MoFPI and committed to advancing India’s food processing capabilities,” he noted.

Shri Avinash Joshi, IAS, Secretary, MoFPI, welcomed the partnership, calling it a reaffirmation of the ministry’s commitment to strengthening India’s agri-food ecosystem. He highlighted Godrej Agrovet’s role in advancing the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm and supporting rural development.

Rakesh Swami, Group President – Corporate Affairs, Godrej Industries Group, added that the MoU reflects MoFPI’s progressive policies and the sector’s growing attractiveness for investments.

With this partnership, GAVL aims to reinforce its leadership in India’s agri-food sector while driving innovation-led growth in processing and distribution.
