Project Mann, a mental health initiative launched by Mpower, under the Aditya Birla Education Trust (ABET), has marked a major milestone by reaching over 75,000 CISF personnel and their families through counselling, clinical support, training, and awareness.
In a joint review of the project’s progress, Mrs. Neerja Birla, Founder and Chairperson of ABET, and DG CISF Sh. R.S. Bhatti, IPS, acknowledged the significant strides made since the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CISF and ABET in November 2024.
DG CISF stated,
“Mental health is as mission-critical as physical fitness for our personnel. This initiative strengthens our internal support systems and ensures that our personnel remain emotionally resilient, focused and operationally ready.”
Mrs. Neerja Birla, Founder Chairperson Mpower, ABET, said,
“Our long-term partnership with CISF is a testament to what can be achieved when mental health is institutionalized. Over the past three years, Project Mann has supported more than 75000 personnel with counselling, psychometric screening, peer engagement and a 24×7 helpline across CISF units nationwide. We appreciate CISF’s commitment to holistic well-being of integrating wellness protocols and care into daily system resulting in a 40% reduction in suicide incidents as a positive outcome.”
Mpower’s expert team has actively worked on creating mental health awareness among CISF members through dedicated counselling, clinical interventions, and structured training. As part of the initiative, 8,506 officers and sub-officers have been trained to detect and address low-risk mental health issues, while ensuring serious cases are escalated to professionals. This tiered model has enhanced access to psychological support at the grassroots level.
Additionally, psychometric assessments have been conducted for 21,000 personnel across high-sensitivity zones such as IGI Airport, Parliament, and Delhi Metro, enabling early detection of mental health concerns. The initiative has offered counselling for issues including depression, marital discord, and financial stress.
Significantly, CISF has recorded a decline in suicide rates, bringing it below the national average during 2024 and 2025 — a notable indicator of the initiative’s positive impact.
In recognition of this success, DG CISF and Mrs. Neerja Birla have committed to continuing support for Project Mann.
