70th National Film Awards: Manoj Bajpayee, Sharmila Tagore expresses gratitude as Gulmohar bags 3 awards

Gulmohar, one of the few Bollywood films to make a significant impact this year, took home three awards at the 70th National Film Awards, including Best Hindi Film, Best Screenplay, and Special Mention.

Three National Film Awards have been bestowed upon Rahul V. Chittella for his debut film Gulmohar, and the cast, which includes Manoj Bajpayee and Sharmila Tagore, is ecstatic. Speaking with ANI, the latter organization also received special recognition for their portrayal of Arun Batra, they said,

“It is such a big achievement for the entire team and the director, whose first movie won three national awards.”

The best thing Sharmila Tagore heard today, she said in an interview with Indian Express, was that this news broke while she was eating lunch.

Tagore added, “I am absolutely over the moon… And I am so so happy and Rahul is such a wonderful director. This is his debut film and he got so many awards and so much appreciation. I am so happy for him and most certainly I am very happy for myself and the team.”

In response to a question about whether or not she would like to appear in any more films in the future, Tagore stated that the producers must be keen on casting her. “I am not averse to (doing films).. but yes, I would like to work. Not in too many films but now and then. Gulmohar’s original music was written by Rahul and Arpita Mukherjee, with compositions by Siddhartha Khosla.
