Here is a list of films that include horror comedies and supernatural comedies, in honor of the release of Stree 2.

A few Indian horror movies made us laugh aloud, even though some of them succeeded in frightening us. The majority of us stay on the edge of our seats to see things like people running from zombies, an old man’s spirit befriending a child and more. A segment of the viewership favors horror-comedies such as Stree.

Munjya, a horror-comedy film directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, stars Sharvari Wagh, Abhay Verma, and Mona Singh. It tells the tale of a cunning and vindictive spirit. A young child performing a black magic ritual unintentionally releases an evil spirit at the start of the movie. Women in the village start to get haunted by the spirit who takes the shape of a creature.

Rathodi village serves as the backdrop for the plot, which stars Sonakshi Sinha, Saqib Saleem, and Ritesh Deshmukh. Due to Kakuda, a dwarf ghost, the village is cursed and stuck in time. Every home in the village has two doors, and the ghost enters the village at 7:15 p.m., through the one that is left open.

3. Bhool Bhulaiyya- Disney + Hotstar

Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, and Shiney Ahuja starred in Priyadarshan’s film Bhool Bhulaiyya. In the film, Shiney portrayed Siddharth Chaturvedi, an NRI who decides to remain in his ancestral home with his wife Avani (Vidya Balan). The ghost warns the couple, but they ignore him. Later, they begin to have terrifying experiences. This prompts Siddharth to give his psychiatrist friend, Akshay Kumar’s character Dr. Aditya Shrivastav, a call at his haveli.

In 2022, the supernatural comedy Phone Bhoot was released starring Ishaan Khattar, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Katrina Kaif. The plot centers on two jobless youths, Major and Gullu (portrayed by Siddhant and Ishaan), who have a desire to become exorcists. They plan a ghost Halloween party one day and run into Ragini, played by Katrina, who happens to be a ghost. In exchange for assisting souls in achieving moksha, Ragini requests a favor: she will assist them and make money.

But neither of them knows anything about exorcism and only profit from people’s superstitions. They travel to a village in Rajasthan at the start of the story in order to exorcise a girl who has been possessed by her deceased grandfather. She is, it turns out, lying because her family is pressuring her into marriage.

Amar Kaushik directed Bhediya, starred Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in the key parts. The plot centers on Varun’s character Bhasker, who travels to Arunachal Pradesh to visit his cousin Janardhan, played by Abhishek Banerjee, for a road-building project. After Bhasker gets bitten by a wolf in the Ziro forests, everything changes. While the local veterinarian Dr. Anika (Kriti Sanon) saves Bhasker. His body soon starts to change, and he gradually turns into a werewolf.

Hardik Mehta directed Roohi, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. Rajkummar plays Bhawra Pandey in the horror comedy, while Varun Sharma plays Kattanni Qureshi. As instructed by a kidnapper, they both kidnap Roohi, the character played by Janhvi Kapoor. They subsequently discover, though, that Roohi is possessed by a spirit.

Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu, Vir Das, and Anand Tiwari starred in Go Goa Gone. This film, directed by Raj and DK, is billed as India’s first stoner movie. In the film, Kunal, Vir, and Anand portray three friends who go to Goa for leisure. They wind up going to a rave party in Goa one day that is hosted by Russian mafias who charge the attendees a high price for drugs. When they discover that zombies are affecting the island, everything is turned upside down. They soon come across Boris, played by Saif, who uses his friend’s assistance to defeat zombies.

9. Bhootnath- Amazon Prime Video

Amitabh Bachchan, Juhi Chawla, Priyanshu Chatterjee, and Aman Siddiqui also starred in the 2008 movie. In the film, Shah Rukh Khan was chosen to make a lengthy cameo. The Canterville Ghost, a short story written by Oscar Wilde in 1887, was made into a Hindi movie called Bhoothnath. The movie’s high point was the friendship between Big B and Aman in their roles as Bhoothnath and Banku.
