Ace filmmaker Hansal Mehta reveals Kareena Kapoor Khan is not a “tantrummy star”
In the recently released film, Kareena plays British-Indian investigator Jasmeet Bhamra.
On September 13, this year, Kareena Kapoor’s much awaited movie The Buckingham Murders was released in theaters. Along with Ekta and Shobha Kapoor, the actress is also a co-producer of the murder thriller.
Hansal Mehta discussed his experience working with Kareena Kapoor Khan on The Buckingham Murders in a recent interview with India Today, stating that she is one of the biggest performers he has ever dealt with.
Hansal said, “She never came across as a tantrummy star. She surrendered herself to the film, to the character. Her work ethic was astounding,” he said. In addition, the director said that she was often present on the set to improve situations and would frequently cue other actors throughout their shoots.
The filmmaker made it clear that there was more to The Buckingham Murders than just her during the filming. The director acknowledged that he might be “wounded by a past experience” but called Kareena a “absolute dream” to work with. After thirty years of filming The Buckingham Murders, the director called the experience “one of the most smooth and very beautiful shootings” of his career.
Hansal Mehta has acknowledged that he is working on a prequel to The Buckingham Murders in an interview with MidDay. According to Hansal, the story tells the origin story of Kareena as Jasmeet Bhamra, showing how her character’s life changed and how she came to be the person she is now.
Ranveer Brar, Ash Tandon, and Allen Keith also starred in leading roles. On October 14, 2023, the crime thriller was premiered at the 67th BFI London Film Festival.
