Renowned Bollywood art director Nitin Desai, best known for his exceptional work in iconic films like Lagaan and Jodhaa Akbar, was found dead at his ND Studio in Karjat. The industry is in shock as the news of his untimely demise spreads, with initial reports suggesting that he died by suicide. The police are currently investigating the matter to ascertain the cause of his tragic passing.

The authorities were alerted when a distress call was received from the studio, and upon arrival, they found Nitin Desai’s lifeless body hanging. As of now, a suicide note has not been recovered from the scene.

Somnath Gharge, SP of Raigad, stated, “Today morning, Shri Nitin Desai’s body was found hanging in ND Studios. We are investigating all angles.” While there are unconfirmed reports about the art director facing financial difficulties due to the studio’s financial struggles, the police are yet to verify these claims.

Nitin Desai made his remarkable debut as an art director in the 1989 film Parinda and subsequently worked on several successful projects that left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. His exceptional talent earned him four National Awards throughout his illustrious career, recognizing his contributions to films like Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Lagaan, and Devdas.

In addition to his prowess as an art director, Nitin also ventured into direction, with films like Hello Jai Hind! and Ajintha, showcasing his multifaceted talents. He also made a foray into production with projects like Raja Shivchatrapati and Truckbhar Swapna.

ND Studios, founded by Nitin Desai in 2005, became a significant landmark in the Bollywood industry and served as a shooting venue for numerous films. Notably, the studio also housed the immensely popular reality show Bigg Boss, featuring superstar Salman Khan as the host. Additionally, it was utilized as a location for the music video of Major Lazer’s global hit “Lean On.”

The Bollywood fraternity and fans are mourning the loss of the talented artist who played an integral role in shaping the visual aesthetics of some of the most celebrated films in Indian cinema history.
