Babil Khan is “almost” in depression reveals Sutapa Sikdar, here’s why
Irrfan’s son Babil Khan has also entered the industry, following in his footsteps.
One of the most gifted actors in the history of Bollywood was the late Irrfan Khan. Recently, writer-producer Sutapa Sikdar, Irrfan’s wife, disclosed that their son Babil Khan is “almost” depressed as a result of constantly comparing himself to his father.
Sutapa Sikdar acknowledged in a recent interview with Hindustan Times that their son, Babil Khan, is under a lot of strain because he is often compared to his father. While their family is still dealing with the devastating loss, she added, “Babil pe bahut zyada pressure hai aur mujhe yeh thik nahin lagta (Babil has a lot of pressure and I don’t feel it’s right).”
She added, “It’s not only about work but also about losing the father figure, almost depression mein hai (he is almost in depression)! Usmein yeh stress and compression all the time. As a mother, I feel, ‘Please mere bachche ko chor do (Please, spare my child) ‘. Also, he is very vulnerable and does not have a fighter’s spirit!”
Sutapa acknowledged that she was extremely strong, as was her father, but the Qala actor must have inherited it from somewhere. She used a quote from Junior Bachchan to illustrate her idea, saying,
“Like, Abhishek Bachchan did amazing work in I Want to Talk but wahi hai…comparisons with legendary Amitabh Bachchan have works against him.”
She claims that Babil is experiencing a similar predicament and is wanting to get out of it quickly.
Babil made his acting debut in Qala. He later starred in Friday Night Plan and The Railway Men which was well received by the audience and critics. He is rumored to be working on Shoojit Sircar’s The Umesh Chronicles, which also features megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
