BIGBANG’s T.O.P. missing from the Squid Game Season 2’s posters; know why

After the first season’s enormous success, fans are anticipating Squid Game Season 2’s big launch. But there have been rumors that BIGBANG’s T.O.P. is missing from the most recent advertising posters.

The primary poster for Squid Game season 2 was unveiled by Netflix on November 27, 2024, and it shows actor Lee Jung Jae leading a group of competitors as they sprint toward an unidentified location. Nevertheless, there was a noticeable lack of Choi Seung Hyun’s or BIGBANG’s T.O.P. visage among the noted participants.

In the past, T.O.P.’s casting announcement caused controversy since some fans were uncomfortable with his prior legal troubles and remarks about leaving the entertainment business. Due to marijuana use, the artist was given a 10-month prison sentence with a two-year suspension in 2017. He was also discharged from the military and had his social media presence vanished.

Regarding the uproar surrounding T.O.P.’s casting, Squid Game 2 director Hwang Dong Hyuk said he didn’t expect such public outrage, pointing out that the K-pop star’s previous marijuana-related incident happened a long time ago and that he had already served his time. The director went on to say that he thought it could be time for the artist to get back to work. He offered his support, complimenting T.O.P. on his talent and dedication, which were evident in practice videos, script readings, and auditions.
