BLINK’s rival move against YG Entertainment
A protest truck was spotted at the YG Entertainment that displayed a LED banner citing series of demands from the BLACKPINK Fan Union, incribed Korean language. “BLINKs demand a new song release on July 4th'”, “We’re sick of YG’s incompetence,” “This isn’t a hiatus, this is unfair treatment.” “Stop using BLINKs,” “Stop delaying and making excuses and get to work now,” and “We demand an official BLACKPINK comeback, not a leaked video or fancam.
What led to BLACKPINK fandom’s protest?
The video clip featured fans’ grievances and vouched for actions from the agency. The first demand cited better treatment of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa by the agency. The second mentioned the tough waiting period of almost 3 years for a new release.
Moreover, fans were also infuriated when the group announced the launch of a single, rather than a full album. Additionally they demanded for a single release on July 4, prior to the tour’s commencement. They requested release of atleast 15-20 new songs, adequate promotion, creation of BLACKPINK Diary 2, and improved communication with fans, with a hashtag #YG_Blink_July_4th_BLACKPINK_Comeback_Demand.
The fans also criticised YGE for the low scale of group activities for BLACKPINK post their 2023 contract renewal. They claimed that the agency have failed to support the members’ solo careers, restricting their musical prowess.
