‘Jabariya Jodi’ does not do wonders on first weekend

Directed by Prashant Singh ‘Jabariya Jodi’, which stars Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra witnessed a quite dull box office collection on its first weekend of release.
Amid mixed reviews, this is for the second time that the lead actors are sharing the screen space after the 2014 film ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’, however, has failed to impress the audience as the previous film.
According to the latest report on the Boxofficeindia.com, the romantic-comedy drama managed to make Rs 4.50 crore on the third day at the box office. And, it collected a total of Rs 11 crore in its first weekend at the box office.
Though, the film, which was earlier decided to be released August 2, was postponed to August 9. The reason for this shift was to avoid competition and to have a solo release at the theatres. But unfortunately, this step could not save the film. Themed around the concept of Pakadwa Shaadi in which eligible grooms are kidnapped by the brides’ families and forced into marriage, to avoid paying dowry, the film also stars Aparshakti Khurrana, Jaaved Jafferi, Sanjay Mishra and Chandan Roy Sanyal.
Sidharth plays the thug who kidnaps the grooms and Parineeti is his love interest.
