Five outstanding Korean dramas will be specially screened at the coveted Cannes International Series Festival, from April 25 to April 30, 2025. The marks the growing popularity and influence of K-dramas, with surreal storytelling that relates to audience from all walks of life. The K-Drama Screening Festival will be featured as the eighth edition.

Among them is S Line, a fantasy thriller by Ahn Joo Young, based on a webtoon wherein an uncanny red line appears above the heads of people, instating their previous sexual relationships.

Despite not embracing a domestic distributor, it is the sole Korean drama to be channelised for the Feature Film Competition.

Other K-dramas include, This Intimate Traitor, written by Han Ah Young, helmed by Song Yeon Hwa; Children’s Ghost Story is written by Yoon Sun Hee and Park So Hee and helmed by Lim Kyung Taek; The Hunter with a Scalpel is written by Jo Han Young, Park Hyun Shin, Hong Yeon I, and Jin Se Hyeok, helmed by Lee Jung-hoon; and The Fairy’s Fasting Center, written by Shin Kyeong I and helmed by Jo Chang-geun.

The psychological drama features a gripping plot of betrayal in relationships and the associated intricacies of life. It has been nominated for the pitch perfect writing and direction.

2. Nursery Rhymes Ghost Stories/ Children’s Ghost Story

The horror mystery presents a concoction of reality and fantasy through the realms of tales in children’s songs. It changes the ambience from a dark lyrical nursery rhyme to a thrilling mystery.

The crime thriller features a storyline of a serial killer who pursues unconventional surgical measures on victims. The nomination was done based on the brilliance in dark psychology used in this film.

 4. Fairy’s Fasting Centre

The fantasy drama is about a determined individual who wants to be a singer but braces hard for an audition at a fasting unit. The drama is amplified with unforeseen twists.
