Cardi B and Offset have formally parted ways as the WAP rapper has filed for divorce twice! The rapper had previously announced his intention to file for divorce in September 2020 but had later backed out; however now, the divorce is official. After six years of marriage, the former filed for divorce on Wednesday, July 31, according to a Page Six report quoting close associate of Cardi B.
The couple’s relationship has seen ups and downs, from cheating scandals to Cardi’s emotional collapse on a livestream because of her relationship. The rapper acknowledged that she has been “single for a minute now” during a recent Instagram live. She added, “I’m curious for a new life, for a new beginning. And yeah… I’m excited.”
Cardi B and the Migos star, whom she refers to as one of her best friends, did, however, spend time together on New Year’s Eve following her public declaration. During an interview with Rolling Stone that same month, she disclosed that the duo are “all right now.”
“We’re best friends. And it’s like, ‘OK. Well, there was a time that I didn’t have a best friend, or I didn’t have a support system.’ It’s not even about ‘How do you leave a partner?’ How do you stop talking to your best friend?” Cardi mentioned in an interview with the outlet.
The couple’s intermittent romance began the moment they were married in 2017. After learning of Offset’s adultery, they fell deeply out of love and declared their split in 2018. Despite their quick reconciliation, the Bodak Yellow rapper filed for divorce in September 2020, a move that was later called off. Their relationship was unsustainable.
Cardi acknowledged in an interview with Elle, “I do know that my relationship has a lot of drama and everything. But there’s a lot of love, there’s a lot of passion, there’s a lot of trust, there’s a big friendship.”
