Mumbai/London — A significant development has emerged in the much-anticipated Bollywood comedy Bhagam Bhag 2, with acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee reportedly stepping in to join Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal in the sequel — and Govinda, who featured prominently in the original film, no longer part of the cast.
According to an exclusive report by Variety India, Bajpayee has been finalised as part of the principal cast for the new instalment, taking on a key role in place of the veteran comic star. The sequel is expected to retain the beloved chaotic humour and madcap twists that made the 2006 original such a hit, while introducing a fresh storyline to modern audiences.
Who Is In The New Cast Line-Up?
The upcoming sequel reunites Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, continuing their collaboration in the comedy genre. Bhagam Bhag 2 will also see Meenakshi Chaudhary in the female lead role opposite Akshay Kumar — marking her return to Hindi cinema after her debut in Upstarts (2019).
While discussions are underway about casting a female lead opposite Manoj Bajpayee, the official announcement regarding the full ensemble is still awaited from the film’s producers.
From Priyadarshan To Raaj Shaandilyaa
Another notable change behind the camera is in the directorial chair. Rather than returning to Priyadarshan — who helmed the original Bhagam Bhag and built its legacy — the sequel will be directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, known for his successful comedy work, including the Dream Girl films.
