For actress Prachi Tehlan, venturing into South Indian cinema has brought with it the dual task of acting as well as picking up new languages. In a recent interview, the actress candidly discussed her experiences grappling with Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam on set.

When asked which of the three languages she feels most proficient in, Tehlan admitted that Malayalam h

as proved to be the most challenging for her so far. “Telugu has been the easiest, while from the scripts I’ve received, I would rank Tamil between the two in terms of difficulty,” she revealed.

To overcome the language barrier, the actress has devised a meticulous process of hiring local translators to render her lines into a mix of English and the respective language, while also writing them down phonetically in Hindi. “This helps me with proper diction,” explained Tehlan.

Despite the obstacles, she is determined to do justice to her roles. “Memorizing lines in languages I’m still learning is undoubtedly time-consuming and difficult. However, with hard work and focus on grasping the essence of each scene, I’ve been fortunate to deliver convincing performances,” the actress stated.

While not fully fluent yet, Tehlan finds the process of immersing herself in the rich cultural roots of these languages through her craft deeply rewarding. Her dedication to authentically portraying diverse characters across industries is indeed commendable.

As Tehlan continues to make forays into Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam cinema, ardent fans will keenly follow her linguistic journey and the impressive mastery over diction that seems to be her next big challenge.
