The IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings was indeed unmissable. Punjab Kings’ Priyansh Arya hit his first century in just 39 balls with a furious knock. With seven fours and nine sixes against the CSK bowlers, he appeared to be in absolute form. The young player maintained his composure and continued to play his natural game even when wickets were falling on the other end. Preity Zinta, the owner of the PBKS team, was unable to contain her emotions for the effort, and her response to the century went viral on social media.
“Saving this to our ‘Special Moments’ folder. A knock of the highest caliber from Priyansh Arya as he scores(42),” wrote Indian Premier League on X.
In their match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Punjab Kings (PBKS) chose to bat first after winning the toss.
A fan wrote, “The happiness of Preity Zinta when Priyansh ARYA scored his first Fifty.”
Punjab Kings’ first IPL 2025 match
Punjab was knocked down with a crushing 50-run loss to the Rajasthan Royals in their last match after winning their first two games.
The Kings suffered their first loss since the Ponting-Iyer period due to a middle-order breakdown, yet they chose to start with the same lineup.
Captain Shreyas Iyer stated that he will try to take full advantage of the conditions and believes his bowling assault will win them the match in the run-chase.
“We are going to have a bat first, it’s simply because we had a discussion about how our batting lineup is, and we need to make the best use of it. In the last game, the dew wasn’t that much, but that’s not in our control; we need to back our strengths,” quoted Iyer.
Another fan stated: “#PBKSvCSK What a moment! PBKS owner Preity Zinta on her feet, cheering and congratulating Priyansh Arya from the stands after his blazing maiden IPL century! Pure emotion, pure Punjab spirit!#PriyanshArya #PreityZinta #PBKS #IPL2025 #TATAIPL”
“We are going in with the same team. We have got really good bowlers in our team, but it’s important how use use them on a given occasion. The last game, the ball wasn’t turning very much, got to give credit to the Rajasthan batsmen as well,” Shreyas added.
However, after failing to finish their run-chase in their last three games, the Chennai-based team is currently lingering in ninth place in the league.
The team’s lack of significant batting depth, despite having a formidable top order, has raised doubts among supporters about their ability to chase large totals.
After receiving a lot of criticism for not starting the innings, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad also stated that his arrival at No. 3 gives the team greater balance.
