Devara Day 1 Global Box Office: Jr. NTR starrer is touted to mint an exceptional opening of Rs 135 cr
On its first day at the international box office, Devara becomes the thirteenth Indian film to break into the Rs 100 crore club.
Devara, starring Jr. NTR and directed by Kortala Siva, has estimated to make between Rs. 130 crore and Rs. 140 crore at the box office worldwide. This is an unusual start. A record-breaking opening for a Telugu-language feature film, the action-packed entertainer has been the biggest opening for Jr. NTR to date. In the foreign markets, including the premiere screenings, the movie has made a huge start, grossing over Rs 45 crore.
An additional Rs 45 crore was received from overseas after Devara’s first estimations of its collection in the domestic markets of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana put it between Rs 65.00 crore and Rs 67.00 crore.
Karnataka is the second highest contributor, with receipts hovering around the Rs 10 crore threshold, followed by North India, which has also generated double-digit earnings. Kerala and Tamil Nadu did quite poorly, with sales of about Rs 2.75 crore.
According to extremely early estimates, Devara has opened globally for a total of Rs 135 crore; actual box office receipts may even push the movie closer to Rs 140 crore. The first Jr. NTR film to achieve a hundred on its first day of release was the SS Rajamouli-directed RRR, and now Kortala Siva is the second.
With the entire weight of the film Devara on his shoulders, Jr. NTR, the lead actor, has lived up to his moniker as the “Man of Masses,” bringing in record-breaking box office receipts. Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor are featured in the movie, and their popularity may have helped the movie seem a little more familiar to North Indian moviegoers.
Although Devara marks Jr. NTR second-ever Rs 100 crore opening, the Man of Masses is poised to establish himself as a regular member of the Rs 100 crore opening club very soon with War 2 and Dragon to come.
