Dhadak 2, featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri has been witnessing postponements due to series of certification issues. The film tells a love story amidst caste and societal dilemma. It is a sequel to the 2018 hit film Dhadak, featuring then debutants Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor. According to recent reports, the film has been awarded a U/A certificate from CBFC after 16 edits.
Edits initiated
As quoted by The Hindu the major edits were implemented for the official certification. One of the important edit was related to a political dialouge which has been rephrased to avoid controversies.
The board also pointed several caste-based terms, instructing to either mute them or change it with less provocative words. Religious references was also rephrased in the line when divine duty was replaced with moral action. Moreover a Tulsidas doha was even replaced with a symbolic verse.
A dialouge featuring power and control was changed to refrain the imposition of dominance.
