The most recent actor from showbiz to fall victim to deepfakes is Shah Rukh Khan, when pictures allegedly depicting him in Mecca with his wife Gauri and son Aryan Khan started making the rounds online.
With SRK and Aryan wearing traditional white clothing and Gauri wearing a white burqa, the three of them are seen posing against the backdrop of Mecca’s magnificent mosque. The images became viral on social media, and multiple outlets even shared them. It was eventually discovered, though, that the images were phony and produced by artificial intelligence.
Shah Rukh Khan, on the other hand, was previously clicked performing Umrah in Mecca. The superstar flew to Mecca after wrapping up filming for the 2023 film Dunki in Saudi Arabia, where he was seen undergoing the holy rite while wearing an all-white suit. In order to protect himself from the COVID-19 epidemic, he also wore a mask.
On the professional front, SRK will co-star with Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Abhay Verma in Siddharth Anand’s King. Filming for the movie is expected to begin in March 2025. King is hailed as an action-packed thriller.
