Suniel Shetty’s daughter Athiya Shetty was rumored to be dating Indian cricketer KL Rahul which came to be true when the two tied the knot in 2023. The couple are now blessed with a daughter named Evaarah. However it was Suniel Shetty whose obsession with Rahul eventually made him his son-in-law.
In conversation with The Lallantop, the actor stated, “Vo kahin na kahin manifestation he hoga. Meri obsession cricket k liye and meri obsession KL Rahul k liye. (That would be manifestation only. My obsession with cricket and KL Rahul)”.
Shetty and KL Rahul’s first encounter
Shetty mentioned he was aware of the prodigy know about the budding talent of the Indian cricketer, he would drive down to Wankhede Stadium to enjoy the sport and witness Rahul’s talent.
Suniel also verified that he followed his son-in-law online and often commented on his performance on ground. However made it clear then that KL and Athiya Shetty weren’t dating. The star developed a bond with Rahul who used to reside in proximity in Bengaluru.
Suniel also shared his chance encounter with Rahul, when the latter requested the airport lounge manager that he is eager to meet the star. Shetty agreed to it gracefully and the rest is history.
Shetty added in praise. “Maine kaha tha ‘Yaar boht acha ladka hai ye’. Toh manifest toh kiya he hoga maine. I had said, ‘He is a very good boy’. So, I would have manifested it)”.
Later, Shetty’s wife Mana Shetty verified that Athiya and Rahul are dating each other.
