Trigger Warning: This article includes mention of suicide
Actor-director Sajid Khan gained a public eye after being implicated in the Bollywood #MeToo movement. Several women accused him of sexual harassment back in 2018, while he was filming Housefull 4. Khan recently disclosed that he has had “extremely bad” times during the last six years. He also had numerous suicidal thoughts. He is currently working to get back on his feet, though.
Sajid Khan spoke with the Hindustan Times in an interview. The Housefull director talked about how he has been spending the last six years after he was implicated in the #MeToo movement. “I thought of ending my life many times in the last 6 years,” Khan said.
The director added that he is still working to rebuild his career despite receiving approval from the Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA). Due to a lack of employment and income during the previous few years, he was forced to sell his home and move into a rental apartment. The writer-director of Humshakals recalled his hardships in life, saying that he began providing for his family at the age of 14 after his father, producer-director Kamran Khan, died, leaving him and his sister Farah Khan in debt.
However, Sajid wishes his mother, Menaka Irani, had been here to witness his valiant efforts as he attempts to overcome life’s obstacles and get back on track. I was her caregiver more than her son. The filmmaker stated: “More than her son, I was her caretaker. Life has been quite tough”
Sajid resigned as director of Housefull 4 post the accusations, and Farhad Samji eventually took his position.
