Well-known K-pop singer and actor Luhan, who was once a part of the group EXO, is under fire for posting offensive content online. The singer has formally apologized post the event.
An apology was shared by Luhan’s representative on his Weibo account on January 6, 2025. The musician admitted during the live broadcast that he was leading by example and that he was prepared to take proactive measures to rectify the harm his activities were causing to the society. He also underlined his dedication to upholding the societal obligations placed on artists.
Luhan stunned spectators during the webcast by frequently displaying profanity and giving the finger, actions that were widely criticized. Chinese social media companies, such as Weibo, quickly blocked his accounts due to his aggressive behavior. Since this prohibition, people will now be unable to follow him or engage with his content, thereby denying him access to one of China’s biggest online audiences.

From Mr. Lu Han’s behalf, an apology statement was posted which read: “During the live broadcast, I set a poor example. I hereby extend my sincere apology. I am willing to actively work to eliminate the negative social impact caused by my actions and take on the social responsibilities that an artist should bear. Going forward, I will hold myself to stricter standards of conduct and express my apologies to everyone through concrete actions. Once again, I extend my sincere apologies to everyone.”
Luhan began his career as a K-pop idol and member of EXO until splitting up with the group in 2014 to pursue a solo career in China and starred in a number of box office smashes, including 20 Once Again, The Witness, and Time Raiders.
