After falling from the balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires, Liam Payne died at the age of thirty-one. Five persons were charged in relation to the death of the former boy band member after the singer was buried in England on November 20.
The BBC reported that Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office has charged Payne’s friend, Rogelio Nores, the hotel manager, Gilda Martin, and receptionist Esteban Grassi with manslaughter related to the singer’s stay.
Along with the names listed above, two additional hotel staff members, Braian Paiz and Ezequiel Pereyra, have also been charged for allegedly providing the late singer with drugs.
Before taking a plane to Argentina to support his friend and fellow boy band member, Niall Horan, the artist had recently finished his term in rehab.
Additionally, it is known that the judge has mandated that two of the five accused stay in detention and show up in court within the next 24 hours as the matter has gone to trial.
According to earlier rumors, the member of the One Direction band was severely drunk when he jumped off the balcony, and medical personnel immediately pronounced him dead.
Later allegations, however, started to surface, claiming that the late musician jumped off the balcony of his third-floor hotel room after being purportedly locked in by hotel staff for causing a commotion in the lobby.
The friends of the One Direction member, Rogelio Nores, Ezequiel Pereyra, and Braian Paiz, were also arrested in relation to his death, according to a news release issued by the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office on November 7.
