This year, Yugyeom from GOT7 may be attending the South Korean military training. Yugyeom appeared to announce his enlistment in 2025 in a recent interview with Ginza Magazine.

In response to a question concerning his 2025 plan of action during the interview, Yugyeom stated, “Since I’m enlisting soon, I’d like to share as much music as possible with the fans and meet them as much as I can.”

He mentioned intending to perform there again “maybe two years later” back in October 2024 when on his solo tour, 2024 YUGYEOM TOUR TRUSTY, in Sydney.

Since then, there have been rumors that he intends to join the military, and with his most recent comments, he nearly confirmed them. Yugyeom would join his bandmate Youngjae, who has similar plans, if he enlists this year. The other GOT7 members, Jackson Wang, Mark Tuan, and BamBam, are foreigners with different military responsibilities, while leader Jay B and Jinyoung fulfilled theirs last year.

During the same interview, Yugyeom also discussed the impending return of GOT7. It will be GOT7’s first album in three years. They want to return with a brand-new EP called WINTER HEPTAGON. The release date of the mini album is set for January 20, 2025. It will be their debut release following their move to Kakao Entertainment from JYP Entertainment.

In addition to being the adored maknae of GOT7, Yugyeom is renowned for being a member of the ’97-liners. A group of male K-pop idols who were born in 1997 and are close friends with one another are known as the “97-liners.” Jungkook from BTS, Cha Eun Woo from ASTRO, Yugyeom and BamBam from GOT7, Kim Mingyu from SEVENTEEN, and Jaehyun from NCT are the members.
