Taylor Swift made history with Friday’s announcement of the Grammy nominations list. The pop sensation has received her seventh nomination in the Best Album of the Year category, making her the only female nominee.
Swift is tied with Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan for the ceremony’s total of six nominations. The Mightnights singer’s most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department, which came out in April 2024, has earned her a nomination.
Swift has received nominations for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Music Video in addition to being nominated for Album of the Year for her song from TTPD, Fortnight.
For their song “Us,” the musician and Gracie Adams have also been nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group recognition.
Swift wasn’t the only person to make history, though, as Grammy nominations began to fall. On Friday night, Beyonce received 11 nominations, putting her at the top of the list. Her album Cowboy Carter was the only one to receive the most nominations in the ceremony’s history.
Additionally, the singer has outperformed Michael Jackson’s 1984 mega-blockbuster, Thriller.
Beyonce has won 29 Grammy Awards over the years, and since she has 11 nominations, fans should keep an eye on the singer as she will be competing alongside Swift, Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, and Post Malone.
Furthermore, Beyoncé has yet to take home the Album of the Year award. The only artists from the lists to receive nominations in the major four categories are Roan and Carpenter. Through Short n’ Sweet and the popular song Espresso, Sabrina has received nominations. In the meantime, Roan’s CD, The Rise and Fall of the Midwest Princess, has earned her a nomination.
